چکیده

Many industries generate a considerable amount of wastewater containing toxic and recalcitrant dyes. The main objective this research was to examine the biosorption capacity Reactive Blue 19 Red 141 by Antarctic yeast Debaryomyces hansenii F39A biomass. Some variables, including pH, dye concentration, adsorbent contact time, were studied. equilibrium sorption biomass increased with increasing initial concentration up 350 mg/l. Experimental isotherms fit Langmuir model maximum uptake (qmax) for selected dyes in range 0.0676–0.169 mmol/g At an 100 mg/l, 2 g/l loading 20 ± 1 °C, D. adsorbed around 90% 50% at pH 6.0. When (6 g/l), reached 19. process followed pseudo-second-order kinetics each system. As seen throughout study, has potential efficiently effectively remove may be alternative other costly materials.

Physiological basis for the high salt tolerance of Debaryomyces hansenii.

The effects of KCl, NaCl, and LiCl on the growth of Debaryomyces hansenii, usually considered a halotolerant yeast, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae were compared. KCl and NaCl had similar effects on D. hansenii, indicating that NaCl created only osmotic stress, while LiCl had a specific inhibitory effect, although relatively weaker than in S. cerevisiae. In media with low K+, Na+ was able to subst...

Anti-inflammatory activity of Debaryomyces hansenii Cu,Zn-SOD.

BACKGROUND Cu,Zn-superoxide-dismutase, Cu,Zn-SOD, can be obtained from different sources with different anti-inflammatory activities. In this study we compared the anti-inflammatory capacity of the marine yeast Debaryomyces hanseii Cu,Zn-SOD (Dh-SOD) with that of bovine erythrocytes (Be-SOD) in a preventive and a therapeutic fashion. METHODS Edema was induced by carrageenan injection into the...

Electron microscopy of ascus formation in the yeast debaryomyces hansenii.

Ascus formation in Debaryomyces hansenii includes fusion of two cells, usually mother and daughter while still attached to each other, through short protuberances developed from the cross wall between them. Nuclear fusion takes place in the channel connecting the two cells; meiosis apparently occurs in the mother cell. Generally, only one lobe of the meiotic nucleus is surrounded by a prospore ...

Covalently Cross-Linked Arabinoxylans Films for Debaryomyces hansenii Entrapment.

In the present study, wheat water extractable arabinoxylans (WEAX) were isolated and characterized, and their capability to form covalently cross-linked films in presence of Debaryomyces hansenii was evaluated. WEAX presented an arabinose to xylose ratio of 0.60, a ferulic acid and diferulic acid content of 2.1 and 0.04 µg∙mg(-1) WEAX, respectively and a Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FT-IR) spec...
